Hey Polycounters! I have been working on this off and on the last month in between work and other obligations. I've always wanted to make a fun stylized Link of my own. Here is a WIP of the textures so far. Don't mind the half closed eyes My coworker is rigging him up so he'll be finished up and posed soon. Thanks for looking!
I'm using marmoset toolbag 2 and I would like to know how to separate materials using RGB masks, so that I can have a different material for the skin. Does anyone know how to do that? I know on their website it says you can use RGB masks, but I can't find out where to plug that sucker in. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, I agree with the burlap/cloth texture. It's getting a bit noisy. I do like the more saturated look I will make some parts more saturated, but what I was looking at for color reference was this image by Yingjue Chen. It inspired me to do my own take on link. It's a little more desaturated.
I wasn't trying to fit it in any of the existing games, but maybe be in it's own game if it had one. It's one of those things where everyone knows this character and how he is supposed to look. Maybe why everyone was in an uproar when Wind Waker debuted. Haha.
I would also agree with the eyelashes, they look good for traditional Link, they do tend to make him look very androgynous. :P I want him to feel more boy-ish so I tried to stay away from the overly pretty eyes. haha.
I know you're following a concept, but I'd really like to see it pushed further
In the meantime here is a neutral pose right now cause his face isn't rigged up yet, and a shot of the sword and shield.
edit: even something like this guy, which I think still fits with the clean look you are going for http://www.polycount.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2091510&postcount=6212
only thing bugging me? Same as ahoburg, the legs are so narrow, it looks a bit odd to me.
