DDO Updated to free version?

I've not used my [purchased] copy of DDO for a few months and when launching it the other day it activated an update - to what appears to be the free version. From what I gather, this 'Legacy' version has limited features and a totally different interface.

Is this correct? If so, I feel completely ripped off since I only bought my copy last year.

Hi! No that is not correct, The old version of DDO, now known as the "Legacy" version is still available and is now free to everyone. The new DDO which you have downloaded is a completely new and improved program, it is currently in open beta so it is free for everyone until september 3rd. But everyone who already holds a licence to DDO will get this new version for free!

So you are in fact not at all being ripped off, you're getting two programs for the price of one

Thank god for that, I'm really bad at staying in touch with latest software developments because I'm always so busy - but thank you for clearing that up Eric. I must learn not to hit the panic button until I've learned the full facts!

Haha no worries you should take some time and get in to the new DDO, it will save you huge amounts of time in the end, the new masking system (among other things) is simply awesome!
