[Max 2014] Error message on start up.

Recently reinstalled 3ds max on fresh install of windows and got this error message every time I tried to open up max.
The procedure entry point ?Peek@MessagePeeker@@QEAAXH@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library maxutil.dll
I posted the problem on autodesk forums but no replies as of yet, see if any of the PC community has had the problem and how they fixed it.
oh its a student version if that matters at all.
