Hello everyone!
This is a gravedigger charcacter that I am working on. I am aiming for a slightly cartoony slightly chiselled look a la Blizzard / Lionhead (see bootm right concept image on moodboard). This is a learning curve for me and I am using it to learn to work in a more stylised fashion. Feedback and constructive comments welcome of course!

An update. Been working on the head and trying to get a more stylised look. Still lots to tinker with but I feel he is getting there. Tips on the moustache would be welcome!
I am not totally content with the boots on the original concept so I am looking to create something a little more 'medieval' looking. Here is a group of concept drawings from the Fable art book for inspiration. I am also considering giving him some raggedy looking trousers rather than the shorts he has on in the concept.
Feedback is very welcome!
I've not done much character stuff at all really personally - how do you go about baking the AO/Normal? Same as hardsurface (Cage + XNormal) or does everyone tend to use Substance or ZBrush for baking?
Nice work again, and cheers!
Normally I would have done the bakes on an exploded mesh (averaged the normals in Maya first) in XNormal but this time I used Knald and I got a great result. I then did an AO bake LO > LO mesh to get the local AO on the pieces which I then overlaid.
