Hey everyone, I am working on a wooden knife so that I can get some practice baking high poly models down to a low poly.
So far I have worked mainly on the basic shapes of the model, I need some advice for working on the rest of the more detailed areas. I managed to crew some screws that I think look good, but I am lost on how to create indented screws.
Here is my model so far:
Here is a wireframe view:
Here are some of my references:
How would you go about doing the small rounded screws? Also, how would I go about doing the inward curve of the knife. I laid out some lines where the inward parts should be, but im not sure how to get it to work properly. Should I just try adding 2 loops around the border of the where I want the inward curve to end, and then scale the edges on the outside so they come inwards?
This is my first real attempt at a high poly weapon, so please tell me if it looks like I have messed something up

for the rounded screws just use a squished quad sphere (box -> turbosmooth 1-2 iters -> scale -> turbosmooth)

Now I have to finish up the inwards curve on the blade, then add in the detail around the edge of the handle
It's looking good so far, some of the edges are a bit too tight. Also you probably didn't pick the most interesting knife shape as reference to begin with.
Send me a PM if you want some more detailed feedback
