Hi! Haven't been on the forums in a while. Good to be back! I'm looking for some good hand painting texture tutorials. I remember there being a thread that listed a whole bunch of tutorials including hand painting ones, but I can't seem to find it after a good amount of searching. Am I just blind? Where did it go?
Any links would be greatly appreciated.

Seriously though, that tutorial from Tyson Murphy is really awesome. One of my favorites. Also, Jeff Parrott put this playlist together and it is pretty well done.

Most of the time I think concept art tutorials and workflow videos help the most.
I completely agree with this. It's really about getting the painting workflow down. Once you get that going painting anything is much easier. Then start studying how different materials react to light.

This is one of the best ones out there by far. The technique pretty much carries over to 3d projection painting as well.
Speaking of which, that might be an area worth focusing on.

Only things I would change, is selecting the shadow layer and using it for colour rather than pure black, and adding a 'Specular Highlight' pass at the end.
Ben Matthis had a few ones

The aforementioned Vertex Magazine ones were awesome too.
