Hello polycount, this is my very first post in polycount. I want to add some work to my porfolio. Since my old works were most about environmental props and buildings, I would like to creat a weapon with hand-painted texture.
Here is my crow staff. It is hold on a evil wizard. The crow can talking and flap its wings, but can't fly away. It specially like to mock people, especially its master. I hope I could bring some its personality to the design.
I would appreciate some feedback to improve it.
quick block out in Zbrush.

I'm thinking about the material for the crow. the crow might not a real animal, It would be kind of statue, but it has soul which make it alive. or should I go with animal like?
any suggestions?
I 'm still working on texturing.
I'm not a bird specialist nor a very good modeler but here's my opinion:
i like the idea, seems fun and could help build up a nice story around the wizard holding it.
About the staff, the crow's proportions seem a bit off to me. The beak is too long for a crow, looks more like a stork's beak. I'd also fluff up a bit the chest area, seems a bit too flat and long.
I'm also not a big fan on how the staff embraces the crow, maybe because it just has one leg?
All in all, good idea, just needs some more attention on proportions
I used crow as a referene, and make a lone beak just my person prefer and also because it could attak people easily (I might stop calling it's a crow just some kind of bird?)
I totally agree for the chest area, the body seems a bit too long, I will fix it. Thanks for notice me that, I really need some fresh eyes.
