Yes! An entirely new particle editor written in QT. I was really really not expecting that. It's also really nice to see valve utilizing the VDC for all the documentation.
I immediately tested over and under bridges and here are my findings
the pathfinding allows you to easily go OVER the bridge unhindered
going underneath it however is impossible
and as expected there is also no elevation cap to "Blink"
also high elevation will not pull the camera out to a playable scale, that's why axe is so zoomed in since he's so high up.
Warning:At this time, the Dota 2 Workshop Tools are considered an alpha testing release and only suitable for custom game mode content authoring. Developers creating cosmetic content for inclusion in the Dota 2 store will need to utilize the existing tool path. More information on that path can be found on the Dota 2 Workshop website.
The way it's worded seems like they'll want to have Workshop Tools to eventually work with cosmetics. Kind of an all-in-one package for dota 2 content creation. That would be awesome.
Do you have a 0/0 bytes Dota update in your downloads ? That was what blocked it for me, you have to enable Steam Beta Updates in the Steam settings, it will download the update and then I could start the Workshop Tools.
ahh almost forgot and you have to re-build you asset (right click in asset browser).
but that's about it.
I wonder if anyone managed to preview hero with custom (not accepted in to the game) new item.
as of last night my steam crashes if i've opted into beta.
well to be more specific - it doesn't actually crash. it just locks up and hangs any time i try to click on anything.
i had already opted in - but had to re-opt after the last update to access the workshop tools. anybody else having this problem?
-it was fine yesterday afternoon. tested it today on two different computers. no luck.
I didn't subscribe to any beta channels regarding the tools, I've downloaded 90% so far. I just hope it works. I don't like to wait 6-8 hours and something doesn't work.

Jokes for Days.
Workshop tool features
Addons Overview Creating, organizing and releasing your Dota 2 addon
Level Design Level design and Hammer information
Scripting An addon's script code defines the game rules for an addon
Modeling Models are the detailed objects or characters that appear in the game world
Materials Images and shader controls are combined to create materials
SoundsAudio production for addons
Particles Effects like smoke, sparks, blood and fire are created using particles
Custom UI Adding custom user interface elements for your game mode
And on reddit, it says that dota 2 is on source. Whats the importance of that?
note the little preview button - i expect live render preview for shader mask creation!
anyone getting this error ?
Edit: they fixed hammer, but my model editor is still crashing
You have to create material (.vmat)

and after that you have to sort of remap it, explaned here:
