Cargo Boat- Feed Back wanted and ideas!

hey there, just started to make a small little cargo boat that's meant to be somewhat junk looking(like its been on the sea for a long time).

i will take any feedback good or bad, even ideas to add onto the ship to improve its general look and feel. XD

4jvoyu.jpg I would join the cabin with the rest of the boat ( from that pictures it seems that they are not actually connected). In rest it looks nice; depends on what are you planning on using it for.

I Attached the cabin to the boat and gave it more shape, also the bout is ment to be a trading ship say for a game and will have a theme of junk/old.

thanks for the feed back, any more?

Do you want to make it stylized or realistic? what are your references?

I think it's looking pretty good so far, although I'd be careful with those long pointy triangles as depending on what game engine you'd be using they're usually prone to causing shading errors/messed up surface lighting.

That said, I can see this as a hand painted low-poly piece for a mobile platform, a good base to start smoothing and sharpening edges, or a mesh to use for sculpting.

It really depends on what platform you'd imagine this model to be for, right now PC wise it looks a little Half-life 1 era before Blueshift with how you seem to be limiting the polycount. (which isn't bad at all, because ipads and the whole minimalistic art movement reaction to modern realism, it's like art history repeats itself I swearz)

Basically it depends on where you want to take it at this stage I'd say.

It really looks more like a tug than a tramp steamer.

    Consider this image:

Note that the bow is much sharper; this is almost universal for ocean-traveling ships for the last century.

The vertical mast serves as a crane to load/unload cargo. Also not the placement; for a single mast, it would probably be well forward. and centered.

The exhaust stack & air intakes can provide a great deal of personality & make the ship recognizable from a considerable distance.

The bridge/helm is raised well above the deck to provide better visibility.

Very few ships of this size & type would have twin screws.

i think i plan to use it in unity game engin if that helps.

thank you for the feed back i love it all, i have changed it alot and recreated its entire shape so there might be more problems created.

i will be going for hand painted maybe but will have some photo realistic mixed in.
