Sorting Tool Presets (Photoshop Question)

Is there any way in Photoshop to have the Tool Preset Sort By Tool option off when starting Photoshop? This gets turned on every time I open Phoshop in CS5.

Also currently I use a Dingbat letter in front of brushes to sort them out. The icon is a bit easy for me to remember than a number or letter. Does anyone else sort out Tool Presets differently in Phoshop?

Do you have the tool preset UI pulled out or do you use the drop down? I have it floating and sorted it with the preset manager and it stays that way each time I startup. No need for numbering. Have you tried saving your workspace layout? I don't know if that works. Just throwing out ideas.

I think he's talking about using characters to visually separate presets, plenty of people do it. It would be really cool if we could set colors or flair for presets.

So wait Per should I use dolphins to sort tool presets? Never thought of that. They are smart.

Colors would be great to sort out various types of presets.

My issue is that the order doesn't retain after every restart.

All I know is that I'm really upset that I didn't think of using dingbats/goofy chars to sort brushes.

I had a co-worker share some of his brushes with me and he set them up like this and I've done it the same way ever since.



I have many different brushes and having them split into categories helps a whole lot. After you have so many brushes, the icons just don't cut it anymore..

I had the same idea. Too bad they didn't create groups\folders for brushes.
