Hello guys,
actually iam on it to create an outdoor scene for my portfolio. Therefore i need a good looking stone texture for a wall and a tower. I want to use the same texture for both to reduce the amount of textures.
I was on it to create it simple out of an existing picture and generate my normal/spec/ao etc with nDO. But i want to put more work on it to get a better look. Do you have any good tutorials or advices for me to create a good stone texture for wall and tower?
I wanted to composit the scene in UDK 4 and the wall and tower shall have a natural damaged look by nature force.

Sculpt a few stones (doesn't have to be super high poly).
Bring them into your DCC app of choice.
Place your stones beside the plane, whenever you make a copy do it as an instance.
Snap the stones to the edges of the plane, then translate a copy of it to the other side. Do this all around until the edges are covered.
Fill up the rest of the plane and tadaa, you got a seamless texture. Minimum cleanup required.
Lots of ways to do it and this is just one of them.
