I am looking forward to this, because I played so much of Frontier: Elite II on the Amiga (along with Syndicate)
Does anyone here play Eve online? How is that similar to Frontier? - I ask because I sometimes think about playing Eve, but found the trial, because of the skill system, a bit joyless.
X2 was ok, but I couldn't get into it because it wasn't Frontier, bought Privateer but couldn't run it because it was so old.
Best space fighting sims I've played are X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and Wing Commander IV, found I had to auto-pilot my opponents in Frontier, so that my beam lasers sliced through them like a hot knife through butter.
I've been resisting this for quite some time now. Still resisting, can't justify the price tag to myself =D But I do really really want to play, being of the generation that received the original Elite on BBC Micro (One of my mates had one).
So, what's in the game ? or going to be in the game ?
I grew up with Wing Commander IV. While the flying missions was fun, I also like the stuff I can do in Privateer 2. I could hunt bounty, hire escort, do some trading, and stuff.
Have to admit the first time I jumped out of hyper space in front of a massive orange star was pretty dam cool! Also this game has some really nice art.
I don't know what's in the game at this point tbh, but what excites me most are the planned updates.
"walking around and boarding ships, walking in stations and on full 1:1 scale populated living planets and more."
We are working on other smaller projects as well, but alas, no RCT.
Are you working on Elite? If not, do you work with Matt Preece? I used to work at Frontier, loved that place! Matt is an awesome guy, we used to get on really well

Awesome I haven't met him yet. I only started 2 months ago and I'm working on an unannounced project. I'd love to work on Elite though to be honest.
I love it.. pretty clueless still about how to do stuff .. taken a couple of missions but cant seem to complete them.. but it doesn't matter.. having so much fun just flying around.
If it keeps going like this its going to be a beast of a game..
I didn't want to buy this game since I have invested soo much on star citizen, but I bought it a week ago and only because I just found out that the developers created the original elite from 1984ish that I used to play when I was little.
So far I have been figuring things out and setting up my game pad for it.
If only they could allow us to use the presets or implement some sort of preset for it.
theres a ton of vids on youtube that are very entertaining and helpful..
One thing Ive found watching the vids is the crowd the game attracts is so very different from FPS and MMO genres.. you can feel the geek ooze outta the videos ..lol
