Hello there!
I'm new to the forums but I was told this would be a good place to come for feedback, criticism and general advice/tips for sculpting.
I started using ZBrush last Sunday and set myself the task of modelling a character (originally just a head, but I decided to make the full character), I'd recently watched The Hobbit again and decided to attempt Azog, the Pale Orc.
After watching a few 'quick start' videos to figure out how to control the software, as well as what the major brushes did, I set out.
So far I've spent a couple of hours per day (Sunday - Wednesday) slowly building up the different elements from a Sphere, as well as many reiterations and refinements of the main shape. However it's still quite far from completion!
I'd love to get your feedback as well as advice about how I should approach the rest of the model!

Not a bad start! ZBrush can be an intimidating piece of software to approach initially, but keep at it and you'll find it to be an incredible intuitive and powerful tool in your arsenal.
The thing about ZBrush is that there are so many different ways of achieving the same result. For example, for sculpting a full character, you could create the base internally using zspheres, or you could start with a dynamesh sphere and keep pulling it into the shape you want, or you can create and import a base-mesh from a program like Max or Maya. Personally, I prefer the zsphere route, since it gives you a lot of control over the posture and gesture of your model which I like.
As for your current sculpt, I think that you should probably go down in subdivisions and work on getting the anatomy and the form of the subject in place before you start going into adding details like scars and muscle striations, etc. The shape of the head in particular could use some attention before moving on.
Keep it at, good luck!
Also I suggest that when you sculpt a character you do it in a neutral "A" Pose or already in the pose you're going to display it in.
I have collected a couple images for you:
