Hi, I've been working on a sword with a snake theme. It's only got a basic texture at the moment, but I'm working on one. I'm thinking of adding a scale pattern to the hilt.
The hilt was meant to look like a snake opening its jaws wide. I made it symmetrical for now, but I wasn't sure if I should add eyes to one side. The end bit is meant to resemble a rattlesnake's rattle.
Any feedback is welcome

snakes only have fangs on one side i think and not sure about the the rattlesnake's rattle, maybe the grip could be curved, may look more snake like.
isn't it a bit short?
it's a nice start (:
try learn some Organic modeling and pick some references.
Good start and keep studying!
@Borx25: Yeah, snakes do have fangs on one side, but I wanted the sword to be symmetrical. Do you think it would look better if it wasn't? I'll make the grip curved like you suggested. What part do you think needs to be longer? Just the grip or the whole thing?
@fisher: You're right, it definitely needs more detail. I haven't used ZBrush before, but I'll look into it.
Thanks again for the feedback, I really appreciate it.
I think what I'm going to do is model the scales in Maya, and bake them onto the low-poly model. Would this work?
I'm also making the grip curved, like Borx25 suggested, I just want to get the scales looking right first.
With the cross-guard, I think my reference images were at an angle. I'll have to find some better ones and fix it.
