Intuos Pro - Stroke delay/Snap lag

I don't really know what to call this type of lag I'm getting with my Intuos Pro tablet.
There is a slight delay that happens the moment my pen touches the surface to make a stroke, It only lasts about .4 of a second but the cursor will remain stationary then SNAP to the current location. I also noticed Zbrush prompts "Tablet services not available" when ever this happens.

It's making Zbrush almost impossible to navigate when timing your key presses and it's making my strokes look awful.

As soon as the cursor snaps then it's back to being nice and smooth.

I've tried restarting the Wacom service in the services.msc panel, This only seems to work for 5 minutes and it breaks the drivers/properties so I'm forced to use my tablet in a right handed orientation (I'm left handed, rendering all tablet keys useless)

The only true way of fixing it is to completely restart my computer and even then after a few hours it comes back.

EDIT* I've found that resetting all my preferences causes it to work again, but this is still super annoying to do every time I need to work, If any one has any suggestions or real fixes they would be greatly appreciated.

I had some intermittent wacom issues a few months back, the easiest fix - although annoying was to remove all preferences, then set your prefs back up, then save your prefs to your desktop, then if it happens again you just remove then load which is a little quicker.

is that happening on windows 7? i had that particular issue quite frequently. i "fixed" it by restarting and as soon as the tablet was working correctly i just never shut the computer down, just put the session to sleep.

that kept the issue at bay for weeks, sometimes months - thankfully thew OS behaved well in general when doing that - but yeah, super-annoying, like most wacom tablet related things for me on windows 7.

I found that I always have to have Wacom Tablet Properties open all the time. It fixes a bunch of issues for some reason.

doing the steps you linked to is essential to get a decent wacom tablet experience in windows 7 but the lag discussed here is an unrelated beast to these modifications in my experience.

it is btw necessary to regularly check these wacom tweaks and re-enable them if things start to act up again because some windows updates reset the values behind the user's back.

Managed to fix it, It was the "Press and hold for right click" feature that caused the lag.

Thanks a bunch, I guess I never really knew what to Google to fix it.

There is also a reg fix called FixMyWacom that allows quick and fast removal of annoying W7 pen features that can affect performance. I had removed most of those by hand but the fix removed the last remnants of microsoft garbage for me. Depending on your configuration you might want to google that up.

Yes now that you mention, it was "hold for right click" that was messing me up as well. It wouldn't click until you moved the wacom. So modeling in maya using a wacom was impossible.

@dr grim: Yes the little app I linked is a tiny .exe you run which quickly disables every annoying windows 7 pen feature.
