hey guys.
I have a really weird problem with my UV'S in 3ds max...
The UV's are looking correctly in the editor but when i put the Checker Pattern on them i see some deforming which are simply not to explainable for me...
Any ideas from who this defomrings are comming ?

To remove all distortion you need to split the UVs along the corners of your mesh there.
this kind of problems "Long thin polygons will smear your UV's" are really fu***** up.
Is there no button / function in max to make the polygons the same aspect ratio like on the mesh ?
There is a button in max for rescaling the uv's to the same aspect ratio called "rescale elements". It's in the uv editor > arrange elements rollout > bottom left button beneath Pack:custom.
Also, I've had that issue when I've tried to copy/paste uv's to objects that have not been properly uv'd. This is not to say it is your case.
Lastly, maybe do an stl check for open edges between poly's or maybe a weld verts in the uv editor or even on the mesh itself.
Hope that's helpful.
Good luck!
This is mostly a case of just trying to UV large chunks, without using enough seams to solve the distortions.
