Hey there,
This is a reboot of my older project (
http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=127430). I haven't worked on it for quite a while and didn't like the direction it went so I decided to scrap it and start from scratch on a different engine and no longer as a map for multiplayer game. Project is still ongoing, but closing to a finish.
My goal here was to create a scandinavian environment of early medieval period. Right now it's just a pure natural environment, but I will add some sort of human activity, a norse shrine, camp, hut and a wooden watchtower on a hill. I also look to increase diversity in foliage, add more color and shapes.
That would be all for now, any C&C much appreciated.

The improvement from your old scene is very obvious, so great job on that.
I can't really critique, maybe I miss some color contrast, which some colorful plants might be able to add the the ground here and there, but that is just an extra preference.
I'm curious as why did you shift from UDK to CryEngine? Learning purposes or did CryEngine provide something that UDK could not?
Thanks!

Hah, looking at the first screenshots myself and it feels like these were made years ago!
I find CryEngine much more suitable for open world levels It has great tools such as river, road and time of day tool and superb vegetation shader right out of the box. I spent so much time trying to create proper foliage shader in UDK, but I just couldn't get tree and branch wind bending right. With CryEngine I could spend more time creating good looking trees, rather than worrying about shader. However with integration of latest SpeedTree into UE4 and addition of spline tool and few other things, I consider moving to UE4 for next open world nature environment.

Yes, all assets were created by me, the only stock CryEngine assets are the skybox, fire patricle and river material.
I want to make something with them so bad
Looks great!
