I don't know if it's my computer but your images took forever to load.

I would keep your first piece and get rid of the rest, because they're not showing anything relevant.

Your Forest Tavern is cool but a bit too dark. I would brighten it a bit.

    Hey,

first of all. good start. Dont know if you want crit on your folio,
or your work only .- but you refering to your folio, so i assume both ;)

    Here some issues:
The presentation is very odd and dark.. Everything is bound to that little image box.
I would keep it much simpler.

    - the url is confusing - "http://www.chrisc3d.com/ - is refering to a landing page.. where http://www.chrisc3d.com/portfolio.html
You might want to clean that up.
http://www.chrisc3d.com/ - should your folio - images straight into my face!
    - not a huge friend of the black background
    - image tricount is distracting and not necessary - your name/url (in a decent way ) would make more sense
    - agree with djoexe - would keep the tavern (forest) present it a better and brighter way and get rid of the rest.
    - no resume/navigation
    - image load takes forever
    - you want to enable that i can save your images.
People save images and come back to your folio if its good!

    hope that helps

also i recommend this Jon,Jones - Your portfolio repels jobs
    - its 2000 years old - but sill put very straight and well together

Why is your portfolio /portfolio.html and not just your url? Seems confusing. Maybe do your resume and stuff as a tab? Also remove that about me. That's what a resume is for.

The work is cool. Take down the art test. Everyone knows what that's for and unless you got the job it's a failed test.

The lighting in your forrest tavern scene could use some reworking. Maybe look at movies and tv shows and try to emulate some of that. The other scenes it seems like the lighting and things are there. The camera angles are a bit hard to see everything at times.

Looking at your portfolio the first thing that comes to mind is Elder Scrolls. Not sure if that's your thing but you might want to do something in the same style you have (last/current gen more realisticy) but modern. It will make it easier for companies that make those games take notice.

drop the portfolio.html and the image viewer. Its a art portfolio so i want have your art in my face the second i type in your site url.

So have your images up front, than at the top have a link to your resume.

Also it is a good idea to have your email or your site url in your images. A lot of art directors or HR people will just click and drag images they like to a folder on there computer to view later. So you want them to be able to easily find your site again.

Which is a other reason to drop the image gallery plugin and just directly embed your images. Since it is preventing me from saving images.

I echo what what the other guys have said so far.
From a website standpoint, I'll add that the presentation is very inconsistent. You should show each prop or environment with beauty shots, wireframes and texture flats. At the moment some pieces have wireframes, there is one clay render-style image and no texture flats at all.

Those are nice shots of your work. With the state of game engines today I would consider adding some atmospheric effect work to your environments to help establish some depth and breath a little more life into the scene as well.

I would get rid of everything on your actual home page, and instead have a resume link. Maybe it's me, but I always find that if you word those "about me" pages the wrong way, it just screams someone that will take whatever offer a company throws at you instead of coming off like a serious professional. Looking at the resume on your linkedin, is says you are working at two different places right now?

The work is strong, agree with everyone above about the presentation though. I always go back to something like this for a recommended way to display work: http://www.grimmsorg.com/

The only other thing I would recommend is to expand the subject matter of your portfolio. Pretty much everything you have is a very specific style.

Last night I started a whole new site. I think it will be much cleaner. I am for sure going to remove the art test, and the weapon. And a few others. Hopefully today I can have my site flushed out so you guys can critique it :). Thanks so much for your kind words and your critiques.
