Hey guys
I want to create very small cut grass, and Im not sure how I should tackle this
It feels like I need some nasty shader stuff
My first idea is to have seperate transparent planes layering over each other, like they did in shadow of colossus for fur which is what im currently trying, but if I will layer lets say 5-6 planes with transparency, will that not be a huge performance burden ? And dosnt seem to work out too well so far
If I just make ordinary grass in very tiny, I have to make insane density and that seems not the right way to go
Any experience on this ? Very hard to google for this subject.
Edit: I have seen the polycount wiki, Ryse moss tutorial is basically what I did, and the rest is what I described already as not really working. Maybe my alphas are trash, ill try it again with the moss / colossus concept

Also check out Alec Moody's vertex blending example. Looks to me like no transparency, just texture splatting
