Hey,
I'm currently working on a new model and need some fresh eyes to spot possible mistakes.
The highpoly is done and the first testbakes seem quite well.
C&C much appreciated!
Looks good, I really like the model. One thing though, the edges running along the sides of the of the gun look and around the trigger guard seems a bit blobby. You probably don't want the edges too tight because I don't think they would bake well but a bit more defined than what you have there would be good. It also looks like you're missing that transition piece above the front end of the trigger guard. I've circled it to show you what I mean.
Can't wait to see this textured! I do like the cornered sight too.
Edit: Looking at your ref, the edges don't look as tight as they are in the picture I poseted but I still think the edges on your model could be tightened up a bit more.
This is pretty damn nit-picky but the only way I see you could make this more accurate other than what was pointed out about the rear sights is that the hand-safety piece in the back (just below the hammer where the "V" of your thumb and index finger would be) is a lot thinner or maybe rather does not protrude as far outward as it should. I can tell it's not actually modeled in the low poly's geometry though, so really it's fine.
After spending some time to learn the PBR basics, I can finally show some progress. The model was rendered in Toolbag with albedo, roughness, metalness & normal map.
Feedback much appreciated.
Gazu Maybe it's the camera angle. Here's another pic:
manilamerc Nothing special. I used some reference images and then started with the highpoly. After that I used some of the highpoly geometry to create the lowpoly mesh.
I would try pushing your materials more. It could just be the lighting but the metal is almost reading like plastic to me. What kind of lighting setup do you have going on?
I corrected my spelling error, thanks for pointing that out!
At the moment, there is just the skylight to illuminate the model.
Maybe look at this quick turntable to better see what is going on (the compression seems to darken the whole scene though).

I just noticed one thing :
CougarJo As far as I know the first models had a more rounded rear sight:
So I think that I will try to stick with the current version, if my information is correct.
I projected the pattern on the wooden grip and some other parts later in ZBrush to see if that can get the job done.
Since some of you prefer the more cornered sight, I will try to see how that one looks when I got the time!

Otherwise, it's a great looking piece, nice job!

Uhm I'm not sure but I think you spelled "patended" wrong on the side of the gun. Shouldn't it read "patented"?

texture update - I hope this time the material reads better!
