Theme Pitch: Fish Market processing nuclear disaster contaminated fish for various sushi serving restaurants, staffed by drones carrying on business as usual while factions protect and expand territorial control.
Organizing my thought/ design process by starting with a general layout (see image).
Side sketches are to help me think of function and characteristics of floors (surface material qualities, lighting, vfx, audio fx even).
Next update plan: sketches.

Today's update, rapid viz sketches. These are the initial round of ideas that I have for my theme. Primary level highlights or features that I've come up so far. And possible composition ideas for the final presentation. It should be less vague in the coming updates as I move along iterating.
Next update: geometry sketches.
Objects represent volumes or focus areas and not necessarily level geo. There won't be a looping racetrack. It just represents how I want a player to navigate if he/she decides to take a long tour of the level. It's like the main street or avenue. I don't want the player to the just go around in circles so I'm thinking of flow and open/ closed spaces to execute their preferred style of playing and tactics.
I'm envisioning that it's on a mini volcanic island. So the geothermal heat powers the market and drones (via rechargeables). In the distance is the nuke plant. Might be visible outside the market windows if you're looking out.
The island location also would allow me to combine rock and machine made surfaces or forms. Even show organic fish waste collecting on the island edges.
The arena design is still rough. Haven't decided on the roof dome design yet but I'm liking an open concept so maybe rain can come in on occasion.
Smoke columns are either geothermal gasses or byproduct of the pet food canning floor.
I don't plan to draw or paint a ton of fish so I'm just gonna IMM brush a couple variants and photomanipulate (rendermanipulate?) them for the final illustration.
Fish is ref for where the big fish elevator is located. Big holes are where fans will be attached.
Figures added for scale ref.
