This is an oil lantern I made for an assessment. 1024 x 1024 textures.
I think I would have been better texturing at 2048 and then dropping the resolution.
Comments and criticism welcome.

    Hey man. :)

    So I think you have some weird stuff going on in the texture. Top of the lantern is great but the handles are quite blurry. You still have a ton of space in your uv map and I'm pretty sure you can maximize the space for those handles and give them a better resolution. Also, the bottom part looks really stretched and could use a little rework to make a cleaner asset.

    Did you texture in PS? it would explain the very distorted base as Suba mentioned.
    Did you use a reference?
    I think this is a great ref for what you are doing, check out the large areas of hue shift and the interest it generates.
    Also when not having pro-skill in texturing I think it's easier to create a more compelling model when you add a few different materials, like the brass mid-section this has and even more.
