Sketchbook: Zersixs

Hi and welcome to my sketchbook! Here I will show drawings that I have drawn and that I think is worth to show.

I would like to get feedback on this shading I did today, the line art was not made by me, that credit goes to Nekoni (nekoni.deviantart.com)

Note: This is one of my first shadings ever so please be kind even though it may look very bad etc... though, of course I would like to hear your opinion and be honest!

Not a bad start. A few things that will help.

First I would make sure you have a clear light source. Right now it's just kind of ambient.

Second all of your values are in the midtone range you really want to push some contrast into this. Start adding some more harsh shadows from a clear light source and it will add a lot of volume.

Last I would think of your materials a bit more. Is this a dark skirt? Is the bow darker than the shirt? Are the shoes darker than the skin and sock? etc. Think about how the materials react as well. Cloth is going to be more flat shaded and skin will have bright speckled highlights.

If I had an overall piece of advice it would be don't worry so much about the quality of the pieces you work on. You are probably going to go through a lot of art you don't like before you get to art you do like. Just focus on where you want to be and practice every day and you will get there.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you Stevston89 for your amazing feedback! I totally agree with you, I saw that it was kind of plain and not so much contrast, I gonna try and make a better one using your advices! :)
