I have a big mystery I want to kill.
Check the attached image, when modeling for a game. Does every thing need to be quads . I have this organic shape for example, which is the platform where the model stands on.
If i go for all quads with a shell modifier i go to 116 polys.
If i just create to contour with the a line, make it a plane i will have a plane with about 10 vertexs. Is it wrong ? I doesnt look bad but will it work in game ?

Using quad's helps with poly flow and is helpful for many things, from normlmap baking to animation. This is a learning process.
