Going for the BLOOD with this shark/wolf hybrid mount and a girl with a harpoon gun.
Or that's the initial plan. How the mount translates into threedee is left to be seen.
I'm super stoked that I have time to take part in this. Have a great contest everyone!
Blocked out the beast and quickly tried some clothing ideas for the girl. The mount in the sketch above is a bit more hostile but I think I'm going for a more playful direction. Dog / tame wolf type.
Looking awesome so far. Something is throwing me off about how big and kind the eye looks on the creature, but that's more of a preference thing so I don't know if it even needs to be addressed. It just feels a bit different stylistically? Either way, loving this so far!
Thanks for the feedback Daniel. You're absolutely right, there's still some things left to figure out with the beast. It feels a tiny bit off to me too and it just might be the eyes. Thanks for confirming my doubts!
Interesting, two votes for less tears. Looks like I'll have to think about it.
Kamezis: I'm going for teenager type proportions with the girl but I might as well see how she looks with longer legs.
Modeled the harpoon gun today. The idea is that it works with pressurized gas and the harpoons are disposable. I'm going to model a quiver for the extra harpoons that'll be either carried by the girl in her back or strapped somewhere on the shark.
Just a quick update. I've been slowly doing bakes for all the parts, except the diorama which I haven't even planned out yet. It'll probably be something minimal.
Quixel dDo is a billion times more useful for hard-surface than organic texturing. Texturing the harpoon was a blast with it.
I'm almost done with all the textures. There's still some things left to do that I find difficult with the Suite, so I'm just going to export everything out and go the traditional way from here on.
Thanks for the honest comment Ashenwraith, I really appreciate it!
I didn't really come to think about gauntlets or gloves myself. Could have added a little something.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, here and elsewhere. It's been very valuable!
Sculpted in some details and wear & tear, adjusted the face and blocked in hair. Also sculpted the hands a bit but I'm not really happy with them yet.
Cool work so far/

I also made a quiver for the extra harpoons.
Last week was pretty intense but now I'm back to working on this mostly on weekends and evenings
Low res models for the weapon and the Shark are almost done. I'll probably start doing some test bakes in a week or so.
Here's a TB2 grab of the girl. Todo: Hair, eyes.

In the end the canvass pad-armor and materials sold me on it.
Biggest crit is I really, really wish the mount had a stubby tail and maybe the creature was overall a bit more stubby.
Also the girl character could be a lot more cooler with gauntlet/gloves that match the detail of the boots.
Great entry!
