Thanks for the feedback. Now that you mention it your dead on about the eye maybe some more detail like adding an iris will fix that. and will definitely work on the legs too
What method are you using to bake your normals on the model?....it looks like you've just textured a low poly model. The saddle lookss great but the main body and especially the head could be much improved with a pass throught zbrush or mudbox to really add aload of detail and then baked off to a re-built low poly version based off the high res model..but that's all dependant if you know how to use zbrush ....nice start though I like the idear
yeah I did a ok sculpt but I've been having a challenge getting the normals to come out clean enough to use. Artifacts and flipping stuff like that. Tried both mubox's baking and xnormal with little luck.
I agree that the eye looks out of place, also you need some bevels on that head, right now it looks like its made out of metal, check out this document on bevels at art for games: http://artforgames.com/infotuts/guide-bevels/.
Keep it up and congrats for being a part of the competition!
Eye is way better now but I have a hard time defining if your beast is organic or metalic. It might also come frome the render, we don't really see much, too much darkness and I think the textures are kinda confusing right now.
Here' it is with a lot more fill light, just an ambient light with no shadows. It's definitely not supposed to be a metal. Its supposed to be sorta leathery and colored like life forms found in caverns and caves.
Hey thats a neat design. Curious what the character will be.
I think you might want to add a skin fold to the knee areas looks a bit rigid now. Also liked the nice curviness of the legs in the concept. The stubbier version is nice too, when you transfer more of the silhouette there which you have in your sculpt.
thanks guys. starting the rider next. I was think something that has that texture so many blind cave fish have or like the goblins in the moria segment of lotr.
