Like the title says, we create training apps that end up on Android tablets. The content is published in Unity and we do most of our 3D in Maya. It's not a FPS or a free moving game. We are using Unity to give the trainee an interactive 3D experience in what used to be done via photorealistic 3D renders and animations.

Here is a scene example (sorry I have no images to post at the time):
  • A Unity scene that has an aircraft hangar (i.e an indoor scene)
  • In this hangar we have equipment that the user will train on (various models that can be hundreds of thousands of triangles)
  • Only certain parts of the equipment will be called out (zooming the camera in and allowing the user to interact with)

My question is this: how to layout the models and keep the areas of focus so they look clear and detailed at the end?

-Do I create multiple textures and put the items that will be zoomed into on their own texture?

Any input is appreciated.
