Been a minute since I participated in a comp. Last one was Brawl, so I figured I should stop slacking and get cracking on this one. Mainly riffing on one idea so far... first go at designing a vehicle, so still getting the hang of it. I'll probably go through a few more designs before I move forward to any further concept then this. I think with these sketches you'll be able to get an idea of where I'll be going with this... Pretty straight forward, nothing too crazy design wise, but I will be attempting to do something a little more stylized. It'll be a good experiment to see how I can leverage dDo to help me create a more illustrated look. Also excited to see how this will look utilizing PBR.

BJA - Thanks! I was actually watching Death Race before doing the initial thumbnails. I had to get those ideas out of my head. I'm actually trying to avoid the death race look. And I feel like the window slats and vents made it look that way.
Naky1000 - I'm hoping you'll be able to. I might have to roll down the windows for an action shot or something.
Stormy - Awesome! I'm heavily inspired by redline... I'm hoping it's not straight up like Sweet Jp's trans am... But if I can capture that same connection that he and his car had then that would be amazing.
miamigator09 - Totally going with the engine block! There isn't a poly limit so there's no excuse not to pimp out the modeling.
Here's the latest update. Concept moving a little more toward final.
Personally I think if you extended the hood a bit and got a messier supercharger on top it'd look rad.
good luck
That was my first thought too!
Reminds me of JP's TransAm from RedLine. I can't wait to see what you do with this!
It looks really cool I hope you'll manage to keep this energy in the 3D version .
Nice work !
ithoual - Thanks! Yeah I hope I can manage to keep the style all the way through. It will feel a little absent during the high poly phase but when it comes back to texturing I'm hoping to bring it back. Photo real isn't how I want to play this one out. Hopefully Marmoset will be nice to me and let me achieve something a little more stylized. Not sure yet because I pretty much have never used it.
Nerf Bat Ninja - I'm hoping that I can infuse some of the presentation with comic strip style. I was told I couldn't do it for the 2 beauty shots, but maybe I can do it for the technical sheet.
Anyway, here's the high poly progress so far. The model isn't too crazy as I'm mainly focusing on shapes rather than detail. The engine is probably the most detailed it will get. The interior might be around the same level of dtail as well. Still tons to do!! Wheels are going to change. I want to do something that will expose the rotors partly. Also have to work on the rear, interior and bottom. Giving myself another week on the high poly then i have to move onto the low and bakes.
I hope you're able to achieve the style you're looking for in Marmoset.
I'd like to achieve a more stylized look as well.
Snefer - Yeah I agree. I made some changes to the wheels and I don't think that problem exists anymore. Good catch!
Azzamat - *shrug* idunno! Seems like the front wheels can rotate alright...Good thing I'm not an engineer, hehe.
Snight - Thanks man!! I'm glad you like the designs.
Urbanoutdoorsman - Yeah i hope so too. I have no idea how to use marmoset or what it's capable of... I really hope I can retain the style of the concepts.
Overall the car has stayed the same. Small tweaks here and there, and small deviations from the concept. I'm the worst at following my own concepts... ugh. Started working a bit on the interior, just trying to get some boxy shapes in there and making it look like it belongs in the 80s. Overall just messing with parts here and there to make the care feel less IMPORT and more MUSCLE. So I thickened up the tires and gave it a meatier spoiler. The backend still needs some tweaks though. I decided to let this one sit for a bit so I can get a fresh look at it after some time has passed. In the mean time I've been working on the character. Mostly blocking him out but the last few days has been trying to get his face to feel good. It's been a pain in the butt because I know next to nothing about anatomy. But with some help I've been picking up some pointers and it's getting a little better.
Overpaints are a great thing totally agree .
Looks promising, maybe play arund with the proportions/forms of the mouth and nose a bit. Seemed fine in the head render, but from far away they look kind of big.
Bet that guy has going this kind of music booming through the speakers -> [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpDn4-Na5co"]Lazerhawk ~ Redline Full Album - YouTube[/ame] =P
