Here is a picture of my problem. Whenever I try to move UV's a bunch of others come along with it and warp the surrounding UV's. WHat the heck do can be done?
son of a #$((!#. Now it's selecting the whole face and when I try to edit some configurations of the UV points it still turns to that thing where it brings other unwanted UV points with it. This is Maya 2011 so I'm not sure if you guys would know how to fix it, but god willing, please help.
I've seen instances where UV movement does not update in real time as you tweak them, kind of an annoying bug. I think you can force the UVs to display properly by grabbing a vertex and moving it, then using undo to put it back.
I don't know what to do about it. I've reinstalled Maya 2011 and the problem still exists. The UV Map gets automatic mapping treatment for the model, uv snapshot, then into photoshop. Then I put red dots in the middle of each side of the box in Photoshop. Should I use Targa or JPG? Anyway, I then go to apply it to the color channel in Maya and the texture is all messed up, not like it was in the UV editor. Something is wrong here.
Instead of TGA, use TIFF; instead of JPG, use PNG.
TGA tends to create noise across the image and JPG comes with the famous artefacts, which may look okay in diffuse, but you dont wanna see what it'll do to your normalmaps.
I dont think that the image format change will fix this particular offset issue though.

Also, "b" turns on and off soft-selection.
Edit, And if that works for you, you may want to clean up your UV sets, so do the following
1, in the uv editor window, from the UV Sets menu, select uvSet1.
2, should look like this.
3, back in the main maya window, select delete current UV Set from the Create UVs menu.
4, if you double check your UVsets in the UV editor window, it should only show one option.
hope it helps,
