Slightly nerves about posting this but I am really eager to get more feedback on it.
For a bit of background this is a project I started developing when I was taking the Futurepoly Online 3D class and now its over continuing to develop it into a flagship portfolio piece.
A lot of its inspired by/based on concept art from destiny among other things but I would really love to get some feedback and ideas. There are lots of things I am not happy with/know need to change thus why I am looking for fresh eyes.
The main structure might look a little odd as I am in the process of going over the base textures again
One major area that's still not been touched too much is the crashed spaceship, still toying around with ideas for that but its going to be in the general area of the large white box in one of the screens.
One of the main concepts that inspired this

Okay, so after looking at this some more, I think it could use an accent color of some sort. There really isn't anything that draws the eye right now. I'm going to just create a quick fictional back-story..
Crashed spaceship, government re-enforces this dirt path to get there reliably. They want to work on it 24/7 to find out what's in it.
With that said, maybe there are some generators in the foreground which have wires connecting to construction lights that go down the path. Both the wires and the lights can draw the eye to the focal point of the crashed spaceship.
MAYBE the scene takes place at night, and then you could use those construction (flood) lights to dynamically light your scene and have some glow coming from the generators/spaceship. The generators could be like a dull yellow to compliment the spaceship, etc, etc, etc.
Some flood lights

Thanks man! some great ideas in there. Did some quick experiments with a nighttime setting and I think I am going to move more towards that more opportunity for contrasting light etc.
I really suck at vegetation and trees still and want to improve on my rocks too because they are getting better but not quite there yet.
Yes and no, the environment in the screenshot above is a sort of offshoot of the main project. Wanted to do something a bit smaller that I could finish quickly. 100% plan to go back to the original environment though its likely I would redo most of it.
Also been working on some tileable textures for use on it. Still need to add things like moss etc to those.
