Polycounts most users ever online day?

Random question does anyone know what or why there were over 9000 (heh over 9000....) users on this particular date on Polycount?

"Most users ever online was 9,079, 09-16-2009 at 01:18 PM."

Right now there's about 350 users, significantly lower than the highest recorded. So I'm just curious if there was something special going on. Also curious what the daily peak user time is in general.

I think Marks is right. AFAIK the most attention to the forum was during either the announcement, or conclusion of the TF2 Contest.

If I remember correctly it was after the tf2 contest when polycount package announced or released. Polycount was plugged lots of popular sites when the package released I suppose.

I think it was after the unearthly challenge, the tf2 contest was in like 2010 so I doubt it's responsible for the 2009 traffic.
