What's a good domain name for my folio ?

First of all, I don't think name + surname .com will work for me.
Not the easiest name to spell; either by phone, by face to face, or by messaging. My official nickname is Ron, but barely anyone calls me that. So no point picking it.

I usually go by PyrZern or shortened to Pyr online. And I been going with PyrZern.net for awhile. The contract is running out now and I'd get the deal from somewhere else (not 1and1). So, I'm checking if I should change the domain name or not.

Any suggestion ? PyrZern was quite alright although it doesn't include 'art' or '3d' either

I'd pick something that's easy to spell and pronounce for anglophones. I used to have my name+surname as my domain but apparently lots of people have trouble with portuguese names. Your full name sounds a bit complicated, perhaps you could break it up?

Assani3d or something should be fine.

I thought of that too, except Assani seems to be quite a common last name in some nationalities. And there are a few of them online already. Including 3d artist.

you could always use a nickname if your real name is long and hard to pronounce. it's easier for people to contact you. But when you do, make sure you choose a unique one

I think Polycunt is still up for grabs. It might not sound appealing at first, but think of it this way. Any time somebody misspells Polycount they'll land on your site and think "OH SHIT!" while it's loading, then they'll be happy when they realize it's just a portfolio site rather than some kind of horrible pornography.

That's when you get them. You make your entire portfolio some kind of horrible pornography.

When you land your first job as a lead character artist which you'll probably get in a week, I only request that you send me some toilet paper you steal from the bathroom. I'm tired of wiping my ass with that 1-ply garbage.

On a serious note, pyr3D.com sounds badass.

use your real name. People will be able to associate your work to you better and you will gradually build up recognition. Who knows what nickname you will be using a year or two from now?

AssaniArt, ArtByAssani, and AsssaniTheArtist are all available. Either way, the two or three word "phrase" approach is the way to go imo.

Equanim and Johnny pretty much summed up the path you should take with your domain name. artbyassani, assani3d, dassani3d, or any of those are your best bet for a professional portfolio. However, as many of the artists around polycount have a sense of humor and the industry has a sense of humor, my personal favorite is what Torch recommended. kissmyassani is priceless for a domain name. It's catchy, easy to remember, and not as far out there as Ben "poopinmymouth" Mathis. If my name could fit into a catchphrase like that I know I'd go for it.

Regardless, there are some great options that others have presented.

i would advise something that you can verbally communicate without spelling it out to somebody. Proper names that aren't super-generic and have well known spellings might not be a great idea.

my last name is Daufelt. pretty uncommon. nobody seems to know how it's spelled after I tell it to 'em. So i use Default - which is an actual word and doesn't require a letter by letter breakdown.
