The University of Hertfordshire is based in the UK, about 20 miles north of London (on the A1) in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.

Visiting Lecturers (hourly-paid contracts) are sought for September 2014 onwards with specialism in the technical and aesthetic aspect of Game-Audio / Game-Music. THE ROLE:

We are seeking highly creative individuals who are able to deliver part of a curriculum to develop and assess students over 3 years of their study. The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and an up-to-date knowledge of the games industry.

Successful candidates will have worked collaboratively as a composer / sound-designer (perhaps with some working knowledge of programming) within a game development setting and will ideally bring prior experience of teaching within Higher or Further Education. We are looking for a tutor to become part of our team, able to demonstrate and impart their experience in creating audio assets for computer games and applications, and in implementing typical audio solutions using a modern development package (such as Unity3D).

THE MUSIC GROUP

The Music Group is dynamic and forward-looking having introduced the UK’s first named degrees in composition, been in the first wave of music and sound technology degrees (BSc Hons awards) and having introduced the first Music and Entertainment Management programme to exploit the combined resources of a business school, law school and school of creative arts.

We have very strong NSS (National Student Survey) results against the sector, a research profile including world-leading and internationally excellent ratings, and very high scoring UCAS entry tariffs across the subject area compared to University of Hertfordshire norms. We were the No.1 New University for Music in both the 2011 and the 2012 Guardian Subject League Tables.

The Music Group is forging ahead once again with exciting new programme developments in songwriting and music / audio for games. We share ongoing goals to enhance further the student experience and to collaborate effectively with the disciplines of digital animation, film, art, design and fashion within the School of Creative Arts at the University. And collaborations have taken place with all these subject areas.

The group has many external networks and is developing this aspect all the time. The postholders are expected to contribute to our dynamic team ethos.

SCHOOL OF CREATIVE ARTS

The School of Creative Arts (at the University of Hertfordshire) was set up in its present form in September 2009 and currently has approximately 2,300 undergraduate, postgraduate and research students. Courses and tutors are organised into 5 academic groups – Design, Visual Arts, Screen, Music and Postgraduate Centre for Creative Arts. There is a broad spread of courses with details available on the University website (herts.ac.uk).
