So I was able to recently help out with the Ghost in the Shell project with a bunch of amazing talented artists and friends. I did not get to help out as much as I wanted due to timing but it was still fun to be of some assistance. The project was a huge undertaking for the team to accomplish and finish and I am very proud to be a part of it. Please head over to the site and check out the awesomeness. Though this is not a video game art related link we did have a ton of artists from the video game industry helping out on the project.

I'd love to see an entire movie made with that level of care.
My only gripe is the color correction. Does making things look 'more modern' really require stripping scenery from any traces of colors other than the dominant one?
(Just kidding of course, it looks fantastic)
The finished piece is the collection of still images and the short documentary about the process. It's all there
Oh. Well the way it was phrased is very confusing. They talk about recreating the opening right? And they show all this 3d animation, right? But the final piece is the still images? I feel like they implied that they were recreating the entire opening.
All that work, a large crew, locations, make up, underwater cameras.....might as well have gone the extra mile and shot footage?
I do understand exactly how expensive shorts are to produce, especially with CG composited in, and I dont mean to sound mean, the quality is excellent, but to spend all that time, skill and money to make a documentary about recreating a movie by shooting stills...seems a little disappointing?
Like recreating the Fall of Troy through the medium of modern interpretive dance :P
Did he start out with different plans that had to be scaled back or something?
Just saying what I think, feel free to call me an asshole :P
iam always skeptical when it comes to movies based on anime
but this looks amazing
