Does anyone keep a website or blog for their portfolio, and could recommend a company/host to go with?
I'm trying to set one up at the minute but wanted to check with you guys what the best option is - I'm not great with html coding so looking for something pretty straightforward. Wordpress seems popular, but also looking at something like 1and1
http://website.1and1.com/free-website-builder (link included for ref) as it seems so simple. Anyone got any experience of either?
Cheers!

Get yourself a domain name from anywhere, godaddy is popular, i use freeola. Link the DNS to the server.
Install wordpress onto server and download a template from interwebs.
Easily update and post your work for next to nothing year. If you need a hand setting anything up, feel free to pm me.
Got things mostly set up now and it's easier than I thought it would be. Thanks for the heads up.
Why is that the preferred server?
Also I did this write up on hosts artists use http://www.polycount.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1919745&postcount=2
Aye Zac has a nice breakdown of the popular hosts, a few new ones for me aswell. I occasionally get stick from using referral links even though it benefits the person just as much so i stick the vanilla in nowadays ;'). I've been using holeinthewall for the last 3 years now, managed to get my previous inhouse web studio to switch over. Saved them about £120 a month.
An from the UK i get 1-4 sec load time for my site which is decent considering the servers location. //Though the front page is only 1.9mb//
ThemeForest is a good paid for template site, if you want some pre-mades to get you started. I also recommend workatility Lite as the freebie option since it's very easy to setup and get going.
