Fire Particles

I've been experimenting with using flipbook animation on my particles (using Maya fluids for the moment). I've been going back and forth a lot on this and I feel like I'm starting to lose the ability to make decent self critiques! Halp? Any C&C would be very much appreciated!

The sparks feel too energetic. Try reducing their initial velocity, and adding a bit of gravity.

Agree with DWalker. You might want more embers, too, depending on the circumstance. Having some smaller more active embers that disappear quickly, sort of what you have now although fewer and closer to the fire source, with a greater amount of floaty embers that linger and disappear.

Also, what good is fire without a good smoke? That'll help seal the deal. Great work so far.

Smoke's on the way! I'm trying to avoid phoning it in with traditional smoke techniques. I've been playing around with a few ideas for 2014+ style smoke particles. It may all come to nothing but I'll post what I come up with!

It would be great if you could get a higher quality video up as well since the one on Vimeo is a bit compressed and blurry.

There's something odd about the fire movement but it's had to put my finger on because it's a bit blurry...
