Hey everyone, so i'm looking for a new mouse and i'm curious if anyone has any recommendations as its been a while since i've updated and i'm not too hip to whats new.
i've got a logitech m-r0007 and i love the button layout but its just getting worse every day with my frosted glass desk (miss clicks, double clicks, temporary loss of signal).
i'm not a big fan of mouse pads so i'm looking for something that will work well without one.
key things i'd like:
-ratcheted/smooth mouse wheel toggle
-minimum 3 thumb buttons
-wireless (preferably something that lasts more than a couple days, the one i've got now spends half the time plugged in to be re-charged)
thanks guys!

(I am not being ironic here ! Missclicks are indeed the most annoying thing ever, and I would think that a glass desk would contribute to these happening often. And I am with you, I genuinely dislike mousepads too.)
I have no experience with wireless mice, therefore I won't have any relevant suggestions as far as the mouse part is concerned. However if you are okay with trying it out devices with slightly different specs (wired + regular scroll wheel) I would still strongly recommend the older Logitech MX518 if you can find one in a good shape, or its newer remake (unfortunately sporting a slightly harder scrollwheel), the G400S.
i'll have a look at those two you suggested (im thinking the fact that its frosted glass makes it even worse as i've tried the paper thing in the past to no great effect)
If you really don't want a mousemat, try a trackball, or an oldschool ball mouse. I don't think there's an optical mouse on there that will accurately track on frosted glass. Perhaps just a piece of heavy card instead of a mouse pad? Normal paper is still rather transparent. Black construction paper? Maybe a smooth granite or basalt cutting board? Same purpose as a mousepad but more stylish.
Best of luck to you though.
I got one of these: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002HWRJBM/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=26881751709&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3835444793369086017&hvpone=69.99&hvptwo=20&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_38ccv2ye0y_e"]Amazon.com: Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse MX for PC and Mac: Electronics[/ame]
This mouse has some "darkfield" tech or whatever they call it. Basically it works fine on glass desks. It works pretty well for me.
If all else fails, a piece of black card with a high GSM, or a black marker board would both do the job of mousemat replacement.
Anker also makes some nice mice. You can see if anything they've got tickles your fancy.
Here's an image of a chopping board to illustrate. :P
I use a logitech g400 which is pretty good
