Articles and books for both, I like to be able to skim over the information and apply what I need. Videos I find just waste my limited time. A well written article with visual aids I think beats a video.
Although I voted for books/written articles, a concise, well edited video can be just as good. Most of the videos on CTRL+Paint fit this description. Unfortunately, tutorials with production values as good as those are a rarity.
+1 to the Marmoset tutorials - really clear and to the point with lots of examples. I wish the Maya manuals were written as well.
