Played last night for a bit and so far I'm having a blast. It's beautiful, obviously, but I gotta say the overall presentation is the best I've seen in a long time. How the visual style fits together with the music, ui, the in-game ui/fx elements, how characters are presented, etc. Just altogether fantastic job on tying everything together. My wife said "now this is how it's done" as she watched me play.
Congrats again, and I hope it does well for you guys and gals.
Question for Gavin and anyone else if they are willing to comment:
So I watched the GT review, and strangely enough, they seem offput by the aesthetic of the game, calling it something to the tune of ~"A bit too in your face."
Did you guys predict this feedback given the assertion of the overall art direction and style of the game? I wonder if it's just a consequence of said direction, so it's a whole damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Well, I can't really speak much about it officially. Like I'm not to the level of calling those shots. But, I think if you listen to interviews, and read what we were trying to accomplish, it is very much in your face. Some people get it, lots of people do - actually, and then some don't. All of our choices are very strong, I think, from the way it's presented, to the art direction, to gameplay mechanics, soundtrack, etc. and when you push that hard you're bound to have a polarizing opinion somewhere.
Great stuff. I love the stylisation of the characters and all the youth/pop culture references from the last 30 years. So fresh to see a game like this.
A little birdie told me Supreme Lord of Awesomeness Leeroy Vanilla was character Designer on the project...
So big props to him and the rest of the team for a sweet sweet looking game ! :poly142:
It's probably the most interesting game for me on the One. It looks like it's been made for fun, if this is good I'm gonna get my first Xbox + all the other games. It looks real good.

I love the creature and weapon designs and the 'next-gen-respawning' is hilarious.
Good fucking job.
Nuff said.
