I'm making some props for a game I'm doing with a group of friends, and I am the environment artist.
I'm almost new to this, but I'm trying to progressing so far.
I have read the post of EarthQuake talking of the smoothing groups and UV islands, but I think I don't get some important pass.
This is a document cabinet I'm doing, and, as you can see, there is an artifact where the uv islands are divided.
And also the screengrab of Unwrapping of the object.
I have assigned smoothing group 1 to the cabinet and smoothing group 2 to the doors. The doors share the same UV Island.
Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

remove any splits on flat surfaces but you can leave the UV seams there. Whenever you add a smoothing split you MUST have a UV seam there, but you can put UV splits on flat surfaces just don't put a smoothing split across flat surfaces.
This is the model after your advices. I completely forget the base rules.
