CURRENT PROGRESS: 2014_05_21
Hello all, been working on a new portfolio piece for last 3 weeks, I'm at a stage where i would really like some feedback. Most stuff is still work in progress and nothing is finalized.
I'm really not happy with the way my lighting is at the moment, it’s not through lack of trying as I've done many iterations but I’m not 100% sure if my light-maps are working as they should be. I posted a question but didn't get a response
here.
I have had it looking better than shown here in these screenshots previously but think i need to re-watch some video tutorials and start from scratch as far as lighting goes. Not made my mind up on the time of day I'm going with either.
I'm using 4-5 meshes inside a blueprint that's getting repeated around the scene, light-maps seem to work different dependent on if a mesh is inside a blueprint or not, is that normal?
Thanks for looking and i would enjoy hearing any comments, suggestions, advise, etc.
just normal/ao on this

The first thing that jumped out at me was that your scene is very brightly lit, even compared to the reference image (maybe tone the bloom down a bit?).
Your textures are very clean, try breaking them up with a little wear and tear
I'm sorry no one was able to answer your question about lighting, I'm pretty new to it myself in UE4 so I'm afraid I'm not much help. Try posting it in the Technical>Unreal part of the forums here. I did with an issue I had and was able to get some friendly people to sort it out for me.
Good luck!
I've not touched any post-processing or any world settings I'll have a play with these when I'm happier with my shaders.
Any tips appreciated! Thanks for looking
edit: just realized just how intense that outside bloom is, i'll tone it down now
