Hey guys, im currently in need of some kind of tool to add to this specific workflow where i need to cut a mesh in specific areas.
Say you have a sofa that is a single mesh, but i want to cut it on the side pillows and on the seats so then i can select them independently.
I know how to do this in max, i can draw a line where i want the cut and it creates the needed geo. The problem is i need it to cut straight away as i paint the lines.
Does anyone know anything that could help me with this issue?
Thanks in advance

Can you elaborate on this part a bit? It's unclear to me what you need. Cut tool? Maybe with Snaps? What kind of painting are you referring to?
A screenshot would probably help.
is this clear enough?

For example there is a tool in the graphite tools that works similarly, "P Connect" u can paint the vertex wherever u want on the model.. if there was a way to combine this with the split feature.. that would be awesome
What I dont understand is if he specifically wants it to be like drawing the curve on the geometry itself or if the slice would be projected from viewport or what. It seems like an oddly specific request when I imagine you could just use a knife tool to cut up the mesh where you want before dividing it into different meshes by a selection.
Does 3ds max have a knife tool that works like that? I remember using the knife tool in Maya and Blender to get that result.
