A hammer that I'm working on :) A cross post from the "what are you working on"...Plan on taking it into Unity and UDK as practice.

Concept:

Where I'm stopping for the night, 3DS Max screen grab:

Would love some critiques on color or the direction of the piece. Color theory isn't my strong suite.

Have you considered replacing the stick with a more food-oriented serving fork?

Sure it wouldn't work for more than one or two hits, but unless it's frozen, neither would the ham...

You're missing the bone from the closed end of the ham.

Haha nice concept and nice 3d model.

My main crit would be that the wooden stick doesn't look like it's really going through the ham. The intersection between the two is simply inexistent, it just looks like two 3D random objects intersecting without any realistic physical behavior if you know what I mean.

Also, not sure about the veins ? It look like cracks in rocks.

@DWalker, the picture of the serving fork isn't showing but I think I can picture it...
this was the reference I was going off of,

I can't tell which part I am missing...the 2nd pic, is that a cut away of the ham or a top down view of the entire ham uncut?

@Cremuss; good call, I'll adjust that on the low poly and the diffuse...I had completely overlooked that during the sculpting phase.

It's a side view of a typical ham. Basically, your tapered end should look more like a handle; it's visible in your reference, but a bit hard to see.

I'm not quite sure what happened to the fork; I really should have called it a carving fork, It's a large, two-tine fork.
