Low Poly Scimitar

This is my base mesh so far, I'm very new to this so any advice would be really helpful. I am planning on UV mapping and adding texture to it next.

Why is the blade edge the widest part of the sword blade? (if you know what I mean...) what is the goal asset supposed to look like? Do you have a concept you are working off?

I can tell it's cartoony, but the uneven topology on the hand guard and the width of the edge of the blade are odd, but perhaps it is to a design you have in mind?

I do not understand what your talking about the blade I purposely made it bigger on the "unsharpened" side. The hand guard I also purposely pushed it in I thought it looked nice. If someone can look at the wireframe I have a feeling its completely messed up, bunch of edges were added suddenly when I uploaded it to sketch fab, because I didn't complete edge loops in maya possibly?

It's probably because you had polygons with more than 4 sides or floating verts. Oh wow I did not know that haha, Thanks. Anyways even though its not realistic is it still a good model? I'd like to go and texture it
