Im pretty new in hardsurface modelling and modelling in general so dont expect anything epic. Any tips or tricks how to make it look better?
Any c&c is welcome
I realize it's supposed to be retro, and the concept's shading looks great, but IMO it's a *too* blocky - pull up some actual retro fighter jets, and you'll see that most of their shapes are rounded and sleek;
or scifi of the day;
.
Your wings could also has way, way too many loops. You could easily cut that down to a third of what you have there; they're basically flattened blocks - which also doesn't make much sense; maybe round the front?
thanks for crit Im going to remake almost everything in the jet. Good to hear that people like the concept Im more like concept artist than modeller anyway.
That looks fine, you removed most of the edge loops. If this is going to be sub-d, keep it as is. If it's poly you can move those vertices to the sides to create large triangles instead (if you want to be super anal about efficiency).
The wing looks paper thin. Even if you say its sci-fi magic, look at the rudder in comparison. Its about ~4 times as thick. Fatten them up a bit with a taper towards the wing tip. And give it a taper front to back. Check out real wing ribs. This will plant the design and make it seem more grounded and functional.
Take a look at 80s movies, or the first "alien" movie (even if its from 1979). The nostromo has a really nice design.
It´s only the landing craft. Most of the ship was only a large freigt module.
You could pick up some of the design elements like landing feet or details for the vents. I really liked the blocky design of the russian spaceship from "2010".

I'm a big fan of hard edges, so my only "advice" right now is to harden a couple more of those on appropriate places

but you have a crazy amount of edges loops, you can deff tone that down
other than that its looking great
