Anywayyssss....
I have recently become interested in the Dota 2 workshop.
I had originally planned to do a few single 3d items and some 2d work.
However, playing Dota 2 frequently I have started noticing that the quality of the Dota items has increased so much in item quality and in value. Now I feel it would be best to partner with a specialist or specialists and produce an amazing value pack with 3d and 2d items.
First thing that came to mind. Polycount.
I've been lurking for quite some time, especially when Dominance War time came around.
With all this said, let me know if you are keen to build a working relationship together or if you want to see some more work towards the goal of dota items.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
Regards
Cam
I've always wanted to make this in 3d. Just because its my fav item on axe
I'll continue to update in this thread. Thanks to the people who have contacted me so far.
Today's attempt at exploring some ideas and getting into the groove.
Really handy having the concept sheets available. Thanks for that
Bristleback thorn armor, lots of stuff to change, especially the thorns under the neck, looks a bit tight around that area, and the thorns itself don't flow.
But I wanted to drop it here before I played a game of dota.
Feedback welcome.
Found a partner to work with on this one, so hopefully I can show some more of that in the future!
A start on a lycan set:
I'm looking forward to this one, lots of change in terms of an overall theme is possible with lycan, being able to change his shift form and his spawned units.
I'll be reworking the claws and collar heaps on this one id say, but its something to upload for the lols.
Have a great Memorial Day to those in the states too!
Cheers

Hey Past, yeah I thought about that for lycan, I initially didn't want to break his colour scheme too much. I'll try a lion pelt, if not maybe back to a patterned cape.
I'll hit it again and try some chunkier warcrafty looking forms. "Pump-up-the-Jam-pump-it-up" etc
Chur Pior, I'm quite into that one, lycan is a cool char, with great item slots to play with.
Here's a quick sketch into a courier inspired by my flatmates dog who is forever stealing my socks:
Makes for a cheeky wee courier.
Colours and further sketches to come.
Hey team. Small update, progress is slow, but getting there.
I changed any sort of lion detail from the front and put the detail on the back. I noticed when I played around with lycan in game a bit that the way he leans forward means his cape and back show a lot more. Also as the cape animates and moves it seemed smarter to put the details around this area.
I rendered out the lion form a bit more as that's the only thing I'm really that sold on, the actual armor will prob go through some more design changes. I'm not 100% sure on how much detail is needed. I kinda got this 3 stroke pattern going, reflecting the number of claws etc.
I haven't touched the courier, but as said earlier here is the inspiration for the lil critter:
One thing I've noticed while doing the lycan set is I'm really over using the set templates, I think next set I'll be concepting freeform/ from scratch or using my own screenshots.
Seeing what Pior has done with his concepts looks far more interesting, and making something from scratch is way more rewarding.
Anyways comments welcome & dem immortal items
ddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmnnnn
has volvo gone too far? is this real life?
Yeah I knew it was a risk going into it. But I really wanted to try risk it.
For all intensive purposes he is still a predator based high power character, you could draw many parallels between a lion and wolf. Pack animals, howls and roars, big teeth :P
But yeah it's one of those things. In a case like this, I would love to have an open communication channel with valve and or icefrog. Just to see how far I can break that lore.

I might take it more towards a spear than an axe, and hit it from that angle.
Cheers man

Lycan is still up for grabs though
It's funny how people like the bristle set, for me it was kinda a "path of least resistance" type of design, almost like HoNs armadon.
Chur Pior, I'll post a pic of the actual dog and my socks too haha.
