For my capstone project for school, I made these game characters for a game I'm developing. I'm looking for feedback because I want to refine my project over the summer, so let me know if you see issues with the modelling, texturing, rigging, or anything.
hey man, i like the slug character you did, i would say hes the most successful of this bunch. The overall read on him is what sells it. The other characters are a bit too confusing and hard to understand from the first glance. Keep at it!
Thanks Cleankid. I was pretty happy with the slug too. Do you have any ideas on how to make the other two characters more understandable/ less confusing? I'm not sure I know what you mean by that.
I also wanted some feedback on my model sheets. I've seen people put textures, models and references all on the same sheet, but I felt like that was crowding my model. Is the way I approached my model sheets effective? Are they something I should show on my portfolio?
Looks like you're displaying your normals in those screen grabs making all the models look quite flat. Redo them with your normals on and it will be a better indication of your characters
A general comment is that you can pop a lot of your detail more by varying your colours, fading, scratches etc. Make them look more interesting, will help with the flatness of them.
I think right your biggest weak point I see is that all your characters feel the same. They're all rubbery in body shape. Change it up a bit, get out of your comfort zone. Instead of another snail or snake like creature do something with a lot of musculature and limbs.
