Starting a new scene with hot sunlight, sandy beaches, pretty flowers and a warming sea. Here are some reference images that I'll use. Feel free to make a suggestion.
Thanks dude. That chipped edge effect looks stunningly natural. Plus the cavity map brings out a nice highlight to the wood. I'll definitely give this a shot.
Although the normal detail is mostly crushed by the sunlight direction. Here's what it looks like in the scene.
Whoever decided that a 2 light system was good for showing off assets needs a trip to the woodshed, heh. It's one of the first things I change whenever I sit down with a new copy of max. It made those stairs look horrible so if that was you, try to avoid it in the future, heh.
But they look great now that you've got them in with proper lighting and materials.

Indeed, although there are never enough plants !

The lighting of the wood asset was completely random, although I still like it with 2 lights bringing out the normalmap detail.
Here's another wooden hut asset. The sunlight was a bit strong and overbloomed the materials in this shot, but it's fix'd in the scene at the moment.
