Combining bump and normal maps in Maya '14 does not work

I followed the steps in this tutorial and they worked in past projects but not this time.

Tried using the connection editor to input the OutNormal of one bump2d node into the NormalCamera of the other but the results never combine; only the bump directly connected to the mesh material is shown in the render and Viewport 2.0

What am I missing?

UPDATE: Ok, now the results of combining bumps and normals shows up in the render but not in Viewport 2.0. Guess I'll have to make due with that.
