I helped out Epic Games Korea with working on a mobile tech demo to show off UE4 running on high end mobile phones for GDC. I was responsible for the first section of the demo which was a cave. Meshing and lighting/post was done by myself and Rick Kohler. The FX were done by Tim Elek. The blocks, chains, and grass were done by Paul Svoboda. The big robot chick in the middle of the rotunda was done by Bill Green, as well as the emissive light models.
And here are some screens from the actual cave area of the demo. It looks much better running at native res on Iphone 5s The only real limitations we have for mobile is that you can only use static lights and you can use 5 texture samplers per material. There are also a few post process tinting features that are different for mobile as well.
Check out the video I posted earlier to check it out in motion.
ae. - Thanks man... yeah its pretty incredible to play around with on device!
Gannon - Thanks. Well for GDC we had it running on an Iphone 5s and a Nexus 5. UE4 min spec is Iphone 4s I believe, and I'm not sure the Android equivalent, but I'm sure its on the website!
What is your process for sculpting wood, it always takes me forever...
because you create it from scratch? create tileable alphs to apply to you wooden structures as a base, chipping of edges and giving it more character will be easy once you have the main structure applied from stock brushes
Really good looking, I originally thought that the stones looked a bit noisy but they look really great in engine! Do you export the entire rock or do you remove the faces that would be hidden behind the wall, also, do you have tiled low poly mesh as a base and use the rocks on top of it or does all the cave stuff consist of the rock meshes? Cheers!

I've got a 5s and would love to see it live...
